Mars Mahadasha

Mangal Mahadasha · 7 years · the chapter of drive

✦ The chapter

A Mahadasha is a chapter of life ruled by one planet. Mars (Mangal) is your drive — courage, anger, stamina, and the willingness to fight for something or someone.

Where Mars stands, you act, compete and defend. A Mars chapter rewards one clean, decisive step over three forceful ones.

A year inside it: a year of momentum — courage, effort, and things that get built because you pushed.

✦ At a glance
Length7 years of the 120-year Vimshottari cycle
Place in the orderThe fifth of nine — after Moon (10 years), before Rahu (18 years)
Birth stars that begin in itMrigashira, Chitra, Dhanishtha
When the turn comesThe pace quickens
As a sub-chapterInside another planet's chapter, a Mars sub-chapter reads push. Drive the hard project over the line — this window rewards force, not finesse.
✦ In working life

A Mars chapter is for building and competing. Energy is high, patience is short. Big efforts land; conflicts also escalate faster than usual.

The move it rewards: Push the hard project through. Pick battles deliberately, not reactively.

✦ The nine sub-chapters

Every Mahadasha is divided into nine sub-chapters (Antardasha), one for each planet, beginning with its own. Each length is fixed by the two planets' years.

Lengths by the classical rule: the chapter's years times the sub-chapter's years, divided by ten, gives the months; the remainder times three gives the days. The nine add up to exactly 7 years.

✦ What the chapter tends to ask

When a day lights one part of your chart in this chapter, the counsel is to start it before you feel ready.

✦ Traditional supports

Gemstones are not prescribed on a page. A stone is a decision for a consultation with a practitioner who has your whole chart in front of them.
