Chandra Mahadasha · 10 years · the chapter of flow
A Mahadasha is a chapter of life ruled by one planet. Moon (Chandra) is the mind itself — your moods, your memory, your sense of safety, and the way you instinctively respond before thinking.
Where the Moon stands, you feel first and reason second. A Moon chapter asks for honest feeling and real rest; the answer that also lets you sleep is usually the right one.
A year inside it: a year of the inner life — home, feeling, and the people who are your ground.
| Length | 10 years of the 120-year Vimshottari cycle |
| Place in the order | The fourth of nine — after Sun (6 years), before Mars (7 years) |
| Birth stars that begin in it | Rohini, Hasta, Shravana |
| When the turn comes | Feeling deepens |
| As a sub-chapter | Inside another planet's chapter, a Moon sub-chapter reads momentum. Work the network — referrals and warm introductions convert in this window. |
A Moon chapter moves your career through relationships and public connection. Networks matter more than output now; reputation travels by word of mouth.
The move it rewards: Invest in relationships and public goodwill — they convert later.
Every Mahadasha is divided into nine sub-chapters (Antardasha), one for each planet, beginning with its own. Each length is fixed by the two planets' years.
| Sub-chapter | The turn | Length | Begins |
|---|---|---|---|
| Moon–Moon | feeling deepens | 10 months | at the start |
| Moon–Mars | the pace quickens | 7 months | after 10 months |
| Moon–Rahu | ambition surges | 1 year 6 months | after 1 year 5 months |
| Moon–Jupiter | doors open | 1 year 4 months | after 2 years 11 months |
| Moon–Saturn | structure calls | 1 year 7 months | after 4 years 3 months |
| Moon–Mercury | words sharpen | 1 year 5 months | after 5 years 10 months |
| Moon–Ketu | life simplifies | 7 months | after 7 years 3 months |
| Moon–Venus | sweetness returns | 1 year 8 months | after 7 years 10 months |
| Moon–Sun | visibility rises | 6 months | after 9 years 6 months |
Lengths by the classical rule: the chapter's years times the sub-chapter's years, divided by ten, gives the months; the remainder times three gives the days. The nine add up to exactly 10 years.
When a day lights one part of your chart in this chapter, the counsel is to do it gently and early.
